How a Deal with Japan Can Boost Commerce: Trade Opportunities Expand

Commerce Adviser Sk Bashir Uddin stated yesterday that the signing of an economic partnership agreement (EPA) between Japan and Bangladesh will boost bilateral commerce and create new prospects for the South Asian nation.

He maintained that if the EPA is signed, Bangladesh, a nation with a developing economy, will have a significant place in global trade.

The adviser made the remarks during a meeting at the Dhaka trade ministry with Iwama Kiminori, the Japanese ambassador to Bangladesh.

Trust and openness define the relationship between Bangladesh and Japan, which will only get stronger as trade between the two nations increases, according to Bashir Uddin.

Kiminori emphasized Bangladesh’s longstanding amicable connection with Japan and stated that expanding bilateral trade would benefit both nations.

Bangladesh and Japan had already begun formal negotiations to sign an EPA at the time of the conference.
