The Nigeria-Japan Chamber of Commerce (NIJACC) proudly acknowledges the commissioning of the Pilot Plastic Waste Collection Centre in Jabi, FCT, a milestone achieved through the strategic partnership between the Government of Japan and UNIDO.

With a significant $2.157 million investment from Japan, this initiative—launched on March 26, 2026, by Ambassador SUZUKI Hideo—is a direct reflection of the "sustainable environmental stewardship" pledged during TICAD9 in August 2025. At NIJACC, we view this project not just as an environmental win, but as a critical foundation for a new circular economy business model in Nigeria.

By integrating Japan’s globally recognized 3Rs (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle) framework into Abuja’s schools and offices, this project opens up vast opportunities for technology transfer, green manufacturing, and sustainable supply chain management. NIJACC remains committed to serving as the primary bridge for Nigerian and Japanese enterprises looking to scale these innovative recycling practices into profitable, long-term industrial partnerships.
