The Nigeria-Japan Chamber of Commerce (NIJACC) celebrates the successful conclusion of the "Nigeria–Japan Capacity Building and Investment Dialogue" held in Lagos on January 28, 2026. This high-level event, attended by Mr. KOZAKI Hitoshi, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Japan, represents a critical step in Japan’s $1 million commitment to unlocking trade opportunities under the AfCFTA framework.
At NIJACC, we recognize the African Continental Free Trade Area as a transformative engine for Nigeria’s economic evolution. This UNDP-implemented project—supported by the Japanese Government—is essential for strengthening the institutional capacity of Nigerian enterprises to meet global standards. By enhancing our understanding of AfCFTA regulations, we are positioning our members to not only trade locally but to lead across the African continent.
A Strategic Alliance for Growth The dialogue brought together a powerhouse of stakeholders, including:
- Mrs. Kaosarat Folashade Ambrose, Commissioner for Industries, Trade and Investment, Lagos State.
- Princess Zahrah Mustapha Audu, Director General of PEBEC.
- Mr. Takashi Oku, Managing Director of JETRO.
- Dr. Veronica Safiya Ndanusa, Executive Director of the Lagos International Trade Fair Complex.
NIJACC remains at the forefront of this movement, working closely with JETRO and our Japanese corporate partners to ensure that "sustainable business linkages" translate into real-world industrial growth. As Japan continues to support inclusive development, NIJACC serves as the primary vehicle for Nigerian businesses to maximize the strategic opportunities presented by this new continental trade architecture.
